The home features extensive Western, Indian and antique art. Wildlife is plentiful. You will have three bedrooms to choose from. The hosts great grandfather sold a team of horses and bought the land. He planted an orchard, which was eventually removed. He then started raising sheep and then moved to raising cattle. Now there are over 250 Black Angus cows and calves in the surrounding pastures from Dec until May. If you come in the Spring, you might see babies being born or at least running and bucking.
The master bedroom on the second floor is a king suite. We like to call it "John Wayne Room." It boasts a gorgeous view of the scenic Mesa Ranch. The desk and other furniture in the room are original antiques from the famous "Hotel Colorado" in Glenwood Springs. Beautiful hardwood floors beckon you to bring your yoga mat or painting easel while enjoying an awe-inspiring view. The canopy of stars will dazzle you as you lay in the spacious bed and will lull you into a relaxed slumber.
The "Cattle Drover Room" and has a comfy queen bed and beautiful country views. The single bedroom is called "The Billy the Kid Room." This room contains a twin bed and a desk and is perfect for a kiddo! Two other roll out beds are ready to go for those large family or group gatherings. We can accommodate up to 8 guests. Large and small pets also welcome for a small additional fee. You will have 2 recently remodeled bathrooms in the house. 1 full and a half bath to share. One even has a laundry chute!
You will enter through a sunny, enclosed porch. The kitchen is ready for you to cook up a good meal. There also is an outside grilling area. The living room is inviting for board games or simply snuggling up with a good book. You could also take in a Netflix movie or just watch TV.
Ample parking is available for RVs and sporting trailers. Load up the horse, bring the ATVs, snowmobiles, dogs. If you arrive late our keyless entry works great. No smoking or cannabis inside the house.
Leave your work at home or bring it with you, as many have stayed for a month and worked remotely. The Ranch is equipped with high-speed Internet and reliable cell phone service. For those of you working or learning from home, this Ranch is perfect for you. You can work a little and PLAY A LOT!
Extra special celebrations like birthdays, anniversaries and family gatherings have been a big hit. Guys golf outings or girls weekend parties are lots of fun here. If you have a big group, the fourth bedroom can be made available upon request. Business retreats are welcome as well.

Hotchkiss has been chosen as a layover for the "Ride the Rockies" event because of our friendliness. You can download the Hotchkiss brochure here.
There is a mid-size grocery store and a single Telluride. The small town has art galleries, sporting good shops, fun used book shop, a shaman center, art classes, covered outdoor public riding arenas, frisbee golf course, a unique art church, and paved walking paths. Several restaurants are available from gourmet vineyard dinners to down-home "Texas-style BBQ." If you don't feel like cooking breakfast at the Ranch, then saddle up and head to town for a "farmer breakfast." (meaning BIG)!
Activities in the area include: hiking, skiing, snowmobiling, fishing, birding, paddle boarding, river rafting rentals, hunting and fishing. (Gold medal water abounds for summer and winter)! The Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, the nearby North Fork River, and 300 lakes on the Grand Mesa National Forest make for a fisherman's dream. Numerous award-winning vineyards are nearby, as well as local organic fruit and vegetable stands. Many offer tasting rooms, vineyard tours or farm-to- table dinners.

Lovely, charming farmhouse. Well decorated with Western theme. Beautiful scenery. Kitchen is fully stocked with all you need to feel at home, ie. syrup, baking, flour, condiments. etc. Host has a room in the house but wasn't staying most of the nights we were there! She gives you your space to enjoy your family and friends!

What a great place! Close friends and I used this place as our base camp while we did some activities in the area. We rented e-bikes from a place in the town of Paonia and rode to several wineries in town. We also did a float fishing trip on the north fork of the Gunnison. Hotchkiss is a great little town. We even played disc at local fairgrounds in town. Great stay! Highly recommend.

5 stars across the board! Becky was highly communicative and accommodating. We enjoyed wandering the fields with the dogs, visits to the river and took the opportunity to make the drive to Crested Butte, Telluride, and Ouray. This property is conveniently nestled right in the middle surround by beautiful mountain passes. The house is adorable!

Definitely a cool little place out in wine country. Becky was great and enjoyed her company. I was out there for a work trip with our two dogs. It's out on a ranch so they had a lot of room. I wrapped up early and ran the Gunnison River which is just a few miles down the road and a great mellow stretch for fishing, kayaks, or SUP.
Austin
A great place to stay! The home itself is clean and has everything that you will need for a stay. Becky, the host, is great. The views around the property are awesome. To the east there are the mountains, and a beautiful canyon can be seen to the south. We were able to see the Black Canyon, hiked Crag Crest on the Grand Mesa, and white water rafted.

We enjoyed our stay. The views were beautiful! The interaction (the little interaction due to COVID) in town was friendly. Everyone waves when driving down the road. The drive to and from was amazing. Who knew Colorado was so vast! AND THE STARS. We sat and watched for hours. We did some exploring to Needle Rock, ice fishing at Crawford State Park, drove through some back roads like Scenic Mesa Drive to Highway 92, and saw spectacular views through Curecanti area. Gunnison Gorge National Area had some great OHV areas. Next time, we will check out Grand Mesa, snowmobiling and wine tasting in the area. Our host was amazing with all the special touches and really did care that we had a great stay. Perfect to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. We will stay again and encourage others to do the same!
